Expert Education Solutions. iPad, Coding & Procurement

iPad in education is becoming extremely popular with a huge drive for Apple to assist and integrate iPad into the curriculum and investing to that end.

Currently we have workshops travelling around the country. If you didnt manage to attend ours in NSW, there are others available so please do contact us here at LE Port Macquarie for dates.

The workshops were a great eye-opener for current Apple technology making understanding iPad in the classroom easy. The briefing was essentially hands on experience with some really neat Applications and learning tools for schools. There wasn’t much technical content as they were designed to give teachers hands on, understandable demonstration.

Perhaps the most important technology which was not really covered in any detail is Apple Classroom.. a completely immersive and captive way to engage students in an iPad environment giving the teacher total wireless control over what they’re seeing, doing, and with the ability to keep students on-task, share their work in real-time wirelessly and to lock them to a particular task, collaborate and so much more..

The second workshops around coding and about it now being compulsory in the curriculum.. Rather than make coding scary, Apple have created 'Everyone can Code'… a full curriculum making coding a lot of fun for both teachers and students requiring zero knowledge in order to start teaching. Using tools such as Sphero robots ‘balls’, coding and seeing results as you code becomes engaging and a lot of fun.. have a look at some of the robots here that interact with the Sphero Edu app on any iPad teaching kids to code, - wirelessly controlling a robot!

We also attended Sydney at Apple on Friday where there was a lot more focus on the DoE, problems we’ve had with them, especially around procurement - and we weren't the only ones. The problem presented whereby schools were being lead to believe that the only place they could buy their equipment was from the procurement portal. Not so. All schools are able to source their equipment wherever they like. This information was due to be sent out to all schools to end the confusion last week.

Apple say that all problems are now resolved with no issues around your procurement equipment for your local Apple Education Solutions Expert - such as us.
