Apple WWDC 2017

Apple and the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference [ WWDC ] on June 5th.
For those of you who don't know, WWDC is the time of year the Apple world starts to build to an absolute frenzy. Apple traditionally release and announce new product at this event. Highly anticipated globally, the event starts on June 5th [ U.S. Time with the main Keynote speech at 10am ].
The rumour mills as always are in full flight year 'round but reach fever pitch ahead of these events. We try and gauge what Apple are up to by closely watching stock levels on all of our Apple product lines and ensuring we are right on the pulse the moment new product is released so we are able to offer it. This year, we'll be faster than ever with new product codes available for you to order once the Apple Store lists them. Plus a run down here real time. - and we may have a shiny new website just in time!
So, what do we expect. Well, if rumours are correct, a number of new MacBook Pro models have their part numbers registered but from what I can see, perhaps the only upgrade to these could be a later generation processor as they've already had a recent 'refresh'. MacBook 12" may need some attention and could see some sort of an update with MacBook Air really needing something to happen as it's looking a bit dated now but is still extremely popular.
I'm unsure as to how Apple will differentiate a new MacBook Air in the current line-up given that the MacBook and MacBook Pro have now become so much thinner and visually far more modern. We shall see.
iMac. There's not too much chatter around iMac but if it is to follow Intel [ Apple's processor manufacturer amongst the things for those who don't know ] , then perhaps it will get a processor upgrade at some stage. 4K and 5K screen availability in these Macs is already a stunning option with Flash storage and processor options still very current, it would be hard to see a vast improvement if any.
MacPro. This machine has been quietly producing blockbuster films, music, tv shows, adverts worldwide for a very long time. Since the latest incarnation of this immensely powerful Mac, it's had no real updates with current customers of this beast looking for third party upgrades regularly to get even more out of them. Will it see anything? Perhaps given it's existing power and options, there's no need...
iPad. There is always rumour consistently around iPad with Apple trying extremely hard to keep this product ahead of its competition very aware of the success of the Microsoft Surface Pro, we expect to see something, at least at the top end of the scale with iPad Pro, but stock levels on the 5th generation iPad also suggest either nervous distribution or a lack of supply which may indicate a change. I say "please don't discontinue iPad Mini" Apple!
iPhone - we expect some announcement around iPhone 8 next week again with Samsung having released and edge-to-edge display on their Galaxy 8 plus various other features making this phone very desirable for Android fans - ( and perhaps some on-the-fencers too ), Apple, we think have been working on some very clever technology including a way to allow Touch ID without a Touch ID sensor meaning some clever stuff has to be done to the screen itself to enable this. Hopefully we'll see a smaller iPhone 8 - at least as an option for those of us who use them whilst running or exercising.. iPhones have consistently gone bigger and bigger to the point where I for one don't use mine whilst running any more as it's just that little bit 'too' big. I drew the line at iPhone 6SE personally so let's see!
There are other rumours around the Siri speaker which may have gone into production allowing you to control multiple devices by voice only. Although we have already seen this type of speaker from Google and Amazon recently, I for one would expect Apple's Siri speaker to be 'something different' and will be very tightly integrated with all Apple devices [ of course ]!
Whatever happens, we do know that whatever we're thinking, Apple may not be. After all, we know the old tagline 'Think Different' has always defined and will hopefully continue to define Apple and the products they come up with.
Stay tuned for all the news here as it happens next week.
